Isabel Mundry's compositions are characterised by a differentiated tonal language that reflects on the relationships between time, space and perception. Recent world premieres include compositions of various genres with diverse sources of inspiration, performed by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Tonhalle Orchester Zürich, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble intercontemporain and Ensemble Resonanz.

Isabel Mundry learned her compositional craft from Frank Michael Beyer, Gösta Neuwirth and Hans Zender, among others, and also studied musicology, art history and philosophy. Since 1998, she has been a frequent guest lecturer at the Darmstadt Summer Course. Following her professorship at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts from 1996, she has been Professor of Composition at the Zurich University of the Arts since 2004 and at the Munich University of Music and Theatre since 2011.
