Bobin Kim
Associate Chorus Director, Bavarian State Opera | 2nd degree
Bobin Kim has been the associate chorus director at the Bavarian State Opera since the 2026–27 season. Prior to that, she served as assistant chorus director and chorus coach at the Semperoper Dresden beginning in the 2024–25 season.
In 2023, she was awarded first prize at the 2nd International Choral Conducting Competition in Marktoberdorf. Since 2022, she has been a fellow of the German Music Council’s “Forum Dirigieren” support program, and in 2024 she was accepted into the concert support program.
During the 2023–24 season, she assisted Jeremy Bines, the chorus director of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, on the productions of “Nixon in China”, “Anna Bolena”, and “St. Matthew Passion”. In addition, she collaborated with the SWR Vocal Ensemble, the WDR Radio Choir, Chorwerk Ruhr, the Frankfurt Opera Choir, as well as the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra, the Rheinische Philharmonie State Orchestra, and the Giessen Philharmonic Orchestra.
She completed her bachelor’s degree in choral conducting at the Korea National University of Arts in Seoul. She earned her master’s degree in choral conducting with honors from the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts, followed by a concert exam in choral conducting at the Saar University of Music. At the same time, she studied orchestral conducting at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts.
