Stefan Englert
Director, Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne
Stefan Englert, Director of the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne since September 1, 2018, can look back on more than 25 years of experience in music management. After working at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, he was Executive Director of the Budapest Festival Orchestra from 2012 to 2018, where he was responsible for artistic and financial planning.
He is responsible for the strategic direction and development of the Gürzenich Orchestra and is shaping the transition to the new Gürzenich Kapellmeister Andrés Orozco-Estrada, who took up the position in September 2025.
He has worked closely with artistic personalities such as Christoph Eschenbach, Jonathan Nott, Robin Ticciati, Iván Fischer, François-Xavier Roth, Sakari Oramo and Andrés Orozco-Estrada.
Stefan Englert is particularly interested in the development of conductors' careers and long-term artistic profiling. The focus is on new concert formats and partnerships with artists of all genres.
