Haeree Yoo

Solo horn player, WDR Symphony Orchestra

Haeree Yoo, born in Seoul/South Korea in 1995, is one of the outstanding horn players of her generation. She has been principal horn of the WDR Symphony Orchestra since 2022. From 2020 to 2022, she was a member of the Karajan Academy of the Berliner Philharmoniker and was subsequently invited several times by the Berliner Philharmoniker as a guest solo horn player.

She completed her bachelor's degree with honours at Yonsei University in Seoul. She then continued her studies in Berlin at the Berlin University of the Arts under Prof. Christian-Friedrich Dallmann, graduating in 2023 with a concert exam. A year later, she successfully completed her chamber music studies at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music.

Haeree Yoo has won numerous prizes at renowned competitions, including first prize and the audience prize at the 2020 International Mozart Competition in Salzburg and first prize at the 2023 Ton & Erklärung music competition with her wind quintet, the Pacific Quintet. In 2019, she was a finalist in the prestigious Tchaikovsky Competition. She regularly performs as a soloist and chamber musician, particularly with the Pacific Quintet.
