Sukjong Kim

Sukjong Kim is a South Korean conductor and was a scholarship holder of the Forum Dirigieren. In 2024, she received the special prize for female conductors from Daniele Gatti at the Accademia Chigiana and was a finalist at the Fitelberg International Conducting Competition.

Engagements have taken her to the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra, the Hof Symphony Orchestra, the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra and the Filharmonia Śląska in Poland. She has taken part in masterclasses with Simone Young, Johannes Schlaefli and Daniele Gatti, among others. She is currently studying for a master's degree in orchestral conducting at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre under Prof. Ulrich Windfuhr. Previously, she was part of an exchange programme at the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University, where she studied with Prof. Marin Alsop. Her musical work is characterised by expressiveness, communicative clarity and a strong artistic presence.
