Rira Kim began her musical career as a violinist in Korea and later studied orchestral conducting at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin. In March 2025, she successfully completed her master's degree concert with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin under the direction of Prof. Markus Stenz. 

In May of this year, she took over the musical direction of the opera “Dessert of Water” from “Neue Szenen VII” at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. In February 2025, she was selected for the Conducting Fellowship of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra under Jaap van Zweden. Previously, she worked as an assistant in the Dutch premiere of Unsuk Chin's opera “Alice in Wonderland” at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam with the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest. In 2023, she was an assistant at the Korean National Opera (KNO) as part of the Opera Studio. 

Rira Kim has taken part in renowned masterclasses with Marin Alsop, Paavo Järvi, Andrés Orozco-Estrada and Johannes Schlaefli, among others.
