Luis Toro Araya

Luis Toro Araya has been the conductor of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Concepción (Chile) since March 2025.

This season he will also intensify his relationship with the Orquesta Nacional de España, where he held the position of Assistant Conductor until September 2024. In 2024 he successfully performed with ONE and Pablo Sáinz-Villegas at the La Rioja Festival. In 2023 he was also part of the Dudamel Fellowship of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

He was a finalist of the Herbert von Karajan Young Conductors Award 2021, winner of the Opera Conducting Competition in Liège and winner of the Opera Award and Audience Award at the International Conducting Competition Rotterdam (ICCR).

Luis Toro Araya studied orchestral conducting at the Franz Liszt School of Music in Weimar with Nicolás Pasquet and at the Zurich University of the Arts with Johannes Schläfli. He has worked with conductors such as Bernard Haitink, Paavo Järvi, James Lowe and Larry Rachleff in masterclasses.
