Friedrich Praetorius
*1996, Germany

Friedrich Praetorius has been Kapellmeister at the Deutsche Oper Berlin since this season. He previously held the same position at the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar and the Chemnitz Theatre.
He is a multiple 1st prize winner, including the 10th Conducting Competition for Opera Conductors Orvieto, the 11th Conducting Competition of the Central German Music Academies and the International Conducting Competition 2021 at the University of Almería, where he also received the Orchestra Prize.
Since 2023, he has been both chief conductor and artistic director of the ‘SommerMusikAkademie Schloss Hundisburg’ festival.
He received his first musical training in the Thomanerchor Leipzig and studied orchestral conducting at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar. He has already worked with the WDR and MDR symphony orchestras, the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, the Stuttgart Philharmonic and the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi.
