Simon Edelmann
*1994, Germany
The young conductor Simon Edelmann is currently studying orchestral conducting in the concert exam at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg. He completed his Master of Music in the summer of 2022 with Prof. Nicolas Pasquet and Prof. Ekhart Wycik at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar, and before that his Bachelor of Music in Hamburg with Prof. Ulrich Windfuhr and Prof. David de Villiers. In addition, he has been supported by the Forum Dirigieren since 2022.
During the past years he has already worked with renowned orchestras such as the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, the Jena Philharmonic Orchestra, the Thuringia Philharmonic Orchestra Gotha-Eisenach, the Filharmonie Hradec Králové, the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra and the Staatskapelle Weimar. As a scholarship holder of the Ernst Boehe Academy from 2020 to 2022, he served as Assistant Conductor of the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz and its Principal Conductor Michael Francis.
He also attracted international attention by winning the Silver Medal of the Antal Dorati International Conduction Competition in Budapest in September 2021.
Master classes with Prof. Alexis Hauser, Prof. Johannes Schläfli, Prof. Markus Lethinen, Aurelien Azan Zielinski, Sandro Gorli, Marcello Bufalini, Arthur Fagen and others broadened his horizon.
