Claudio Novati

*1992, Italy

Born in Como, Italy, Claudio Novati has been serving as a Kapellmeister at the Landestheater/Bruckner Orchester Linz, Austria since 2020. Beforehand he gained experience as a Répétiteur at the theatres in Heidelberg and Hof and taught as a lecturer at the University of Music in Weimar.

From 2013 to 2019 he received a scholarship of the Cusanuswerk Foundation. Since 2019 he has been a scholarship holder of the Forum Dirigieren (Conductors‘ Forum) of the German Music Council and was accepted into its concert promotion programme in 2021. He was awarded the second Prize at the 2023 conducting competition “Forcolin” and in 2019 he won the second Prize in the conducting competition of the MDR Symphony Orchestra, same as the German Academic Exchange Service awarded him the DAAD Prize.

Claudio Novati enjoys a continuously increasing international reputation thanks to his stylistic versatility in both the symphonic and operatic repertoire. He has conducted several orchestras, such as the MDR Symphony Orchestra, the Bruckner Orchester Linz, the Robert-Schumann-Philharmonie Chemnitz and the Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra.

He is an outstanding artist having graduated in orchestral conducting (cum laude), choir conducting, composition, organ and church music at the Conservatory in Como and at the University of Music in Weimar in the classes of Prof. N. Pasquet, Prof. E. Wycik, Prof. M. Kapsner und Prof. E. Viccardi.
